Wondering what our George has been up to lately?
Since he was booted as Arts Minister by Malcolm last November, he’s been busy trying convince the new PM to reconsider his proposed changes to 18C of Racial Discrimination Act – and defending his right to offend everybody.
At least that’s my take on it, in my play 18C and Me – The Bigot’s Lament, which will feature in the Top 80 Week 6 at Short + Sweet at The Depot Theatre, 142 Addison Rd, Marrickville.
The Top 80 plays began on January 6 and will continue until 28 Feb.
18C and Me has been put forward as an ITC (Independent Theatre Company) on behalf of Script in Hand and Actors Anonymous, who supported the development of the play.
Thanks to James Adcock, who starred in the Script in Hand version last year and who will once again play George for Short + Sweet, as well as directing this and his own play Maybe Baby, and to Stephen Carnell, director at Script in Hand, and writer and photographer and all round supporter of the arts.
Short + Sweet features a frenzy of fantastic short plays that will have you laughing, crying and jumping out your seats.
It’s a fun night out so if you’re in Sydney be sure to catch this years’s crop of great short plays.
