Little Gems

Two of my short plays were selected as finalists in the Gemco Players Little Gems 2011 competition and one has now been selected for publication and performance.

The competition, which is in its second year, attracted 40 entries from all over the world – including one from Texas. Twenty were selected for an un-rehearsed reading, held last week, and from this, 10 were selected for publication and performance in August.

My play, Presence, is a monologue with a Christmas theme. I have been expanding it into a longer play for quite a while now, so I am thrilled that this short version has been chosen as part of this year’s Little Gems.

Gemco is a community theatre company based in Emerald, Victoria. It was established more than 30 years ago and more than 70 per cent of its material is by Australian writers.

Here’s the link to Little Gems, but the finalists are not listed there yet.
